About The Class: Perfect for the hooper-to-be who is stepping into the hoop for the first time or for the beginner who wants to review the basics. This class will cover all of the hooping essentials that are key to building a solid hoop dance practice. Skills such as being able to keep the hoop flowing on your waist through being able to spin and walk in all directions while the hoop stays up are taught here. Basic moves such as halo, passing, corkscrews, and hip hooping will be incorporated as well. Classic and fun tricks will be incorporated to add to your budding repertoire of moves. When the class is feeling comfortable with the level 1 curriculum, we will transition into level 2 territory while continuing to strengthen all of our level 1 skills. Beginning level 2 will cover chest, thigh, neck hooping, and anything else the hoop leads us to!
These two levels will be taught together.
Experience Necessary: Participating students will follow the curriculum appropriate for their own personal skill level.

About The Class: Level 2 is the "guts" of hooping! Perfect for the hooper who has the basics down really well and is ready to be challenged by learning chest, thigh, and neck hooping. Also great for the hooper who is starting to connect with these moves but needs more time to smooth them out and who wants to become more fluid in his/her reverse current. We will also learn waist/hip angles and have fun with moves such as basic jumps, floats, corkscrew combinations, basic isolations, basic breaks and more. We will continue to build on these skills while adding variety to them to create a solid foundation for our hoop dance practice.
Pre-requisites for Level 2: Ability to waist hoop proficiently while moving in all directions (front/back/side/360 spins), hoop on hips, solid ability to maintain hoop on hand above head (halo or lasso), pass, corkscrews from waist, corkscrews from overhead to waist (float up/down).
About The Class: Level 3 is the jumpboard into intermediate hooping. This class is for the hooper who has a very solid foundation where all of the big movements such as chest and thigh hooping are starting to feel natural and easy. We will use these foundational skills as a platform to build upon. Chest hooping will be our foundation for learning chest angels and shoulder hooping while shoulder hooping will be our springboard into learning shoulder angles as well as upper body corkscrews. Challenging and technical moves will be introduced in addition to expanding on familiar skills. Duck-ins to the waist, spread eagle, across the chest roll, vertical step throughs, vertical elbow hooping, and any spur of the moment trick or movement sequence that Susan comes up with are headed your way! Creativity, flow, and fluidity will be emphasized.
Pre-requisites for Level 3: Proficient in all corkscrews and progressing towards proficiency in linking corkscrews and being able to pick up/deliver/and link to and from hips. Skilled in basic vertical hand hooping, basic off the body moves, and must be proficient in moving/dancing freely in waist/hip hooping in all directions. Proficient or progressing towards proficiency in chest, thigh, and neck hooping, particularly chest hooping in order to use it as a building block for moves such as shoulder hooping, upper body corkscrews, shoulder angles, barrel rolls, and breaks. Experience in waist angles and being able to link them via 180 degree turn and the barrel roll. Familiar with basic breaks, isolations, neck duck outs. Familiar with transitions when hooping off the body such as moving the hoop from a horizontal to a vertical plane and being able to figure out how to combine moves.
